Paris Climate Agreement Norway

Norway`s new and reinforced target is to reduce emissions by at least 50% by 2030 and by 55% compared to 1990. Suriname says it will step up the fight against climate change, especially in the electricity, road transport, agriculture and forestry sectors, sectors that generate 70% of the country`s emissions. Overall, it is said to already be a “carbon-negative land,” because its rainforests absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. The Paris Agreement entered into force in November 2016. This is the first global agreement that obliges all countries to set more ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Norway was one of the first countries to ratify the agreement. The Paris Agreement gives hope that countries around the world can cooperate to avoid dangerous climate change.
